Alekhine Defense Chess Books

Alekhine Defense

The Alekhine Defense is not so often to be seen, but can definitely be a nice weapon for black against 1.e4. By playing 1... Nf6 black invites white to expand the pawns to later try undermine this pawn centre. In some variations the Alekhine Defense can lead to very sharp play. On the other hand, if white doesn't take the invitation to create a space advantage on the board, black can equalize quit easily. The opening has some clear cut ideas, has his venom and is relatively easy to learn. Black usually hopes to get his opponent out of book fairly quick and plays for counterattacking ideas. But the Alekhine Defense is more than a surprise weapon; it's a serious opening choice for the chess player who is not afraid to play for three results. Among others, well respected chess authors Cyrus Lakdawala and Daniel King, wrote some very instructive books on the Alekhine.
